Thanks for your comments. The guy I know has made a few other laptops (apple IIGS, etc) so he's fairly certain that he can do it, but I have to choose the computer.

I've ruled out the Falcon, 520ST and 1040 due to size. The MegaST/STE or TT looked to be about the smallest available.

I was leaning towards a Mega STe due to it's smaller size and hard drive built in.

I own a stacy that is now not working (anyone interested ??) but I want a color screen.
