Already have.
Its now socketed and works great when the CT63 is unplugged.
The CT63s own BIOS also wont write either... The CPX Module that lets you set things up, can use either the NVRAM or the CT63 to store info but neither saves the info fully - It will for example save the hour one time, but not the minutes, and another time it might be the other way round??? - It seems to randomly chose what info to keep and what to forget?
I have BIOS 1.03c on the CT63 and I have tried a number of different versions of the software but nothing seems to help as it should.
Right now though I have it starting the Falcon up in 640x480 which is what I want, and that the IDE is looked for first, again, this is good and the time and date are all wrong, but thats a small price to pay. I dare not try to save it again.
One thing I will say though, is that the git who soldered the socket in or me, has missed a pin. This pin ( I forget which one to be exact ) did not seem to be an important one for the Atari, however, I have soldered a wire onto it, and round the baoard to underneath, so its now connected, but will that small length of wire make any difference? - its about 3 inches long?
Anyway, as I said its working kind of now so Im leaving it well alone for the time being.
