Well, I sure hope so yes.
I am hoping so, because call it really really bad timing, but the GEMSYS folder got corrupted earlier on, and when I went to check the disk out, it tuirns out that I have bad Sectors on it.
I grabbed another Disk and copied all the files over but that too suddenly developed bad sectors ( I do however think that it always had issues on the old PC I grabbed it out of )
So, I now have 2 options ( At this time ) of using an 8GB HD ( that I know is a good one, but old ) or go back to Compact Flash ( of which I will probably use a 512MB for C: and the 4GB for the rest )
But now, I have hit upon another issue in that even though TOS can read the partitions sizes all the way up to 2GB ( I want to have my Music Partition at 2GB ) but Magic does not access the drive? EH? I soon realised that BIGDOS does not either.
On further testing I am seeing that any partition over 512MB and under 2GB wont be read under Magic or BigDos so I cannot go back to 1GB partitions either???
So, at this time my falcon is useless for a different reason.
Have I checked the DATE Issue? - No, I have not. I will go up and have a look later on and let you know on that one.
I must ask..
You item number 6 you say that the clock patch has been removed and that all solders are proper? - What are you saying?
I have added the 7404 IC patch to my Falcon and I am NOT going to touch that unless it turns out wrong... Admittedly I have not done that much SCSI work, because of the Partitions problem, but from what I am seeing, its fixed it.
Can the Clock patch affect the Partition sizes like they are ? ... No, no?
RAM
The RAM in the CT6x is Crucial CAS 2 PC133. This seems top be the best RAM possible, however, its double sided and there is somethign about Double sided RAM isnt there, so I should replace it.
However...
I have tried many others and there is no difference in stability that I have noticed!
ST's RAM
Bugger me, how will I know?
Its all very well, but buying even more when the RAM I already have is good anyway, is just yet more money spent on it!
BOOT PROGRAMS & THEIR ORDER
I think I have everything necessary yes... The XBIOS etc things for Magic and NVDI5 are all thats needed I think in the Auto and of course the CPX modules too!
I have no doubt that the massive number of extras I have in my systems are not going to help stability but I took them all out when I first had the CT6x and found very few that actually made any difference.
Anyway, this post has gone on far too long... I wil have a look at the NVRAM info for you in a few minutes ok?
