Hi,
I think you're getting too much on the PC-line when argueing. PC-arguments today are only these: what MHz, what graphics card...
We shall not forget that there are other arguments and Atari-clones have totally different pro's than PCs - and that's exactly the way to compete with PCs.
What do we need 3 GHz for?
Yes, games and DVD-ripping. That's it.
What advantages has an Atari?
fast booting, easy to handle, needs little resources, innovative system (don't forget the Deesse!), no viruses, no spying out by Microsoft and many more.
90% of the users I know don't need 3 GHz, not even 500 MHz.
After all, the CT60 sold 170 times. They don't get new interfaces, they don't get a faster DSP, most have to put their Falcon into a tower and the 68060 is slower than the ColdFire. And remember that the ACP claimed to do this machine for Atari-fans in first place - and even the AmigaOne does not seem to get any customers from outside the Amiga world.
>So: Sorry for the coldfire team, but I think the market is too small for a 400MHz coldfire
Ahem - how many Atari-users are there worldwide? A few hundret?
What we need are just some dozens of new Atari-users, that's it. Even these few would be great. And this is possible.
